There are many ways in which a teacher can ensure that a lesson's key academic vocabulary is reviewed at the end of the lesson. One great activity I use frequently in my classroom is an activity called the "Exit Pass" in which students have to write down one word and definition of a word learned in class. The fact that they know they cannot leave until I receive that card really makes them think. In many instances, students start debating over the correct definition in which makes the teacher evaluate that the students were really listening.
