DRAMATIC PLAY PROPS AND ACTIVITIES and THEIR INTEGRATION INTO THE INTER DISCIPLINARY CURRICULUM

A. Grocery store - the props might contain small, empty food containers - tea bag boxes, egg cartons, margarine cups, etc and some receipts from the grocery store, paper bags etc. Other objects such as a toy cash register, shopping cart, old purses, play money etc can set the stage for shopping play.

Activity:

Children can role-play that they are going to buy grocery items in the supermarket. Props include shelves with items, a cart, an area for the cashier where they can pay, cash register with paper tape, containers, etc.

Learning through Interdisciplinary Teaching:

Math - This is a good way to practice their Math skills. Younger children can count how many items they have bought while the older kids can start estimating how much they will pay for all the items they have bought.

Science - The kids can identify which items are breakable and sort them out for easier packing. They can also sort the soaps as they are going to be packed separately from the ...
