If I were a key player in the management of a catastrophe such as Hurricane Katrina, there are several things that I would have done differently. The first thing I would have done is use the media to my advantage by getting the word out to the city of New Orleans to evacuate. I do realize that no one predicted the levies would break and the city would be flooded. But, I feel like the media spent more time trying to film people trying to escape than strongly advising them to leave as soon as possible

If I were a key player in the management of a catastrophe such as Hurricane Katrina, there are several things that I would have done differently. The first thing I would have done is use the media to my advantage by getting the word out to the city of New Orleans to evacuate. I do realize that no one predicted the levies would break and the city would be flooded. The same goes for the victim of Hurricane Floyd, there were not made aware of the severity of each situation. Evacuation efforts definitely were not what they should have been which caused many innocent people to lose their lives. I do not see any good examples of management that I can assist you with. The only positive thing that the citizens of New Orleans had at that time was a powerful mayor that sacrificed a lot to make sure his city got what it needed.
