In essence, a mobile friendly website is one that will display and function on a mobile device. A mobile application is designed to perform a function on a mobile device. For example, you may be able to go to your banking website on your browser and perform all of your banking functions. However, your bank may also offer a mobile application which will automatically access your banking information without the need of inputting a web address.
