I am trying to develop a public relations campaign for a financial services company which will provide services to customers via the internet as well as have regional offices in 5 states. What does an executive summary include? or an example of an executive summary.

An executive summary previews the main points of an in-depth report; it's written for nontechnical people who don't have time to read the main report. In order to make an executive summary effective, one needs to keep key points in mind. One need not include every point in the summary, but ensure that major ideas are covered succinctly. The steps to develop an executive summary:

List the main points the summary will cover, putting them in the order in which they appear in the main report.

3. Write a simple declarative sentence that states each of the main points.

4. Add supporting or explanatory sentences as needed, avoiding unnecessary technical material and jargon.

5. Read the summary slowly and critically, making sure it conveys your purpose, message and key recommendations. You want readers to be able to skim the main report without missing the point

Thus, in the development of a public relations campaign for a financial services company to internet security related issues, your executive summary should cover the basic purpose of your compaign, the key issues surrounding the internet security and security issues faced by people while conducting business/transactions over the internet, overview of means available to tackle those issues,etc. Basically, it will provide the reader an overview of the whole campaign.
