Management Section: RFP

Setting up of an Onsite Childcare is an excellent management opportunity for the research organization. The employees need a work environment that is free from distractions. However, at your organization, it is not uncommon to have children demanding attention during working hours from their parents. In the process they often create distractions not merely for their parents but also for other employees at the company. For this purpose I propose to set up an Onsite Childcare. This childcare will provide quality care and learning environment for children, and will minimize the distractions caused to parents or other employees because of the children.

There is a strong need for Onsite Childcare as HR data shows that most of the office staff were married and within child-rearing age. Also the number of females joining the staff was increasing fast. A survey of employees indicated that daycare service was desired and needed. The survey indicates that the Onsite Childcare center could expect about 80 employee children. At the inception a committee of management employee will be set up to participate in the Onsite Childcare plan. The committee will help determine the features of the Onsite Childcare center. The educational program will set high quality standards, the goals will be in accordance with the state educational policy, and there will be different curricula activities for different children.

It is proposed that the Onsite Childcare will be located in children's room where the children are currently located. This will provide adequate space. The startup costs will be limited to $80,000, and the operating costs will be and annual operating budget of $60,000. The facility will be available to all employee children.

From the perspective of management, the Onsite Childcare brings several advantages. The Onsite Childcare will help lower employee turnover rates. Further, the Onsite Childcare will improve employee morale. In addition, there will be lower absenteeism. Moreover, the Onsite Childcare will provide good public relations. The community will be positively inclined towards the company. In an organization where employees are required to work with full concentration, the Onsite Childcare will improve employee productivity. The reputation of the company will improve and the Onsite Childcare will help attract high quality employees.
