The five institutional processes that directly affect the degree to which OD interventions can affect institutionalization processes are:
-Socialization. The idea must be transmitted and become a part of the organizations, essentially sold throughout the organization. In part this involves the have a specific goal and making sure the goals are narrow and focused. This helps direct activities, including training new members to behave in the manner required to implement the intervention. Employees must have a target and understand the goal. This also helps the organization create a process or steps to achieve goals, linking rewards to the target, for instance, to encourage behavior.
-Commitment- People must be bound to behaviors associated to the change or intervention. This involves buying into the program. To be successful, the intervention must be specified, in advance, to create a deeper commitment and understanding. This involves ensuring that the intervention is aligned and include in the tasks to encourage performance.
-Reward allocation: People understand that if they do something and are positively rewarded, they are likely to continue with that behavior. Organizations can enhance making changes into habits by rewarding employees in a fair and ...
