You are making a case in a manager's meeting to facilitate the company's transition to using self-directed, high-performing teams. A self-directed, high-performing team is very similar to a medical review team, or a teacher's learning community. All of these groups analyze performance at many levels, identify problem areas, brainstorm and recommend solutions to solve them, implement the solutions, gather data, and report back to the group on the success or failure of the chosen solution. If the solution was not successful, or only marginally successful, the group will return to the problem-solving stage to improve performance further, or start over with a new and perhaps better solution. Group-identified problem areas are addressed in turn, and there may be several projects in progress at any one time.

It can be easily seen that this sort of self-analysis, and addressing problems in this proactive way, can certainly be the basis of a self-directed (meaning they identify their own problems to solve) and high-performing (meaning they take steps to solve their problems, not just identify them) group, and how such a group would be the ideal work group in any situation you could imagine - business, the medical field, and education.
