Self directed teams are formed by managers using the company's mission statement. In self directed teams, personnel of the company unite together and form a team. Self directed high performing teams contribute immensely not only to the individual's performance but also in the success of the organization, as managers of a self directed and high performing team are more effective and successful. Establishing self directed, high performing team is not a trouble-free task. The managers have to go through numerous difficulties while establishing them.

Refined talent and upgraded skills are essentials in every area of work while forming self directed high performing teams. It acts as a critical factor in the success of the team. All managers and employees of the company are not bestowed with superior skills due to which forming a team becomes difficult. Competency of the team members is a pre-requisite for self directed teams; members of the team must have the aptitude to manage their independence, as well as their team's work. Adequate information is also necessary while establishing teams consecutively to make effective decisions, which sometimes is not available to managers and thus, they face difficulties during establishing and implementing the team (Medina, 2006).

Some managers and team members emerge as the conflicting elements in the team and lack loyalty towards the team. This causes difficulty while establishing the team as less loyal, and more conflicts will reduce the performance rather than enhancing it. Less or no motivating factor for being in the team will emerge as a complexity while establishing it. ...
