The potential problem that is occurring at Lego is the inability to actually provide toys to female children that they will want to pressure their parents to buy. Despite its history as a long-time leader in the toy market for young children, the company only has approximately 8% of the market for female children. Therefore, the company needs to conduct research that is qualitative in nature to understand what the consumers who are children actually want. Therefore, the company needs to ensure that it can engage in focus groups, observations, and other forms of qualitative research that will provide the company with an accurate portrait of what this demographic wants in its toys.
