With a focus on the health care consumer, health care marketing should focus on
aspects of the organization that add value for the consumer. In the quantitative
study presented by Carley (2008), a comparison of health care leadership styles and
perceptions of leadership, by different generations of health care workers, indicates a
need for improved leadership that engages members of the health care
organization. The perceived lack of effective leadership, among Gen X and Gen Y
workers, leads to dissatisfaction of health care workers. In organizations where
leaders fail to connect to workers, the turnover rate for health care staff is high and
overall quality of patient care is affected.
Measuring health care marketing dimensions usually focuses on indicators of
patient health care satisfaction. Measures of patients' perceptions of quality of care
and of efficiency of care are important, in determining overall satisfaction. The data
