After exploring the public sector organization and their use of internal auditing, it was noted that a low percentage of the public sector organizations was using internal auditing due to reasons which are not well known of. To come up with the reasons behind this, a research question is posed as follows, 'What are the roles of an internal auditor in promoting good governance within public institutions?'
