Problem Statement
Women in pharmaceutical industry are poorly represented in the C-level positions. The problem is not that there are not enough qualified women in the workforce, or that there is a glass ceiling that stops women, but that women need to "lean in" and not stop selling themselves short because they don't believe that they have what it takes t or because they don't think they can have the career and the family.
Purpose
The purpose of this qualitative research is to explore main reasons why women are not able to get C-suite positions in the pharmaceutical industry. A qualitative method is proposed which will consist of two focus group discussions and face-to-face interviews of leaders in pharmaceutical organization. The resulting data will be analyzed for disparity in roles in pharmaceutical organizations.
The goal of this research study is to empower women to pursue higher leadership positions and improve opportunities for women in the biopharmaceutical industry.

 What is the place that men and women occupy in the management of a pharmaceutical company?
 What are the attitudes of companies as perceived by men and women who worked in these companies?
 What are the attributes that are required for advancement to C-level positions in pharma organizations?
 What percentage of women in the pharmaceutical industry are chief executive officers, chief financial officers, and chief operating officers?
 What are the reasons for minority status of women at C-level positions in pharmaceutical industry?
 What is the personal background of women who make it to C-suite level? Are they married, have children?
 What are the demographics of women who make it to C-level?
