1. Introduction: The topic is Equal Pay for Women that work at Wal-Mart. There have been several controversies at Wal-Mart. There are claims that women are being paid less than their male counterparts. Wal-Mart Is denying some jobs to women and does not practice the policy of equal pay for equal work. The study needs to be carried out to ascertain if there is equal pay for women at Wal-Mart. The study will also identify positions in which women at Wal-Mart do the same job as men but get less than their male counterparts. Wal-Mart is also denying some benefits to women that it is giving to their male counterparts for the same job.
2. Statement of Problem: There should be equal pay for women who do the same work as men at Wal-Mart (1). According to the law there should be equal pay for women who do the same work as men at Wal-Mart However; women are being paid less than men at Wal-Mart (3). It is asserted that women are being paid less than their male counterparts at Wal-Mart. This discrimination deprives women of remuneration that is rightfully theirs. The Equal Pay Act (1963) says that there should be equal pay for equal work in all American organizations (2). However, there is evidence that Wal-Mart is still disallowing women from some jobs and is denying women equal pay for equal work(4).
3. Purpose of Research:
The purpose of the study is to find out if there is equal pay for women at Wal-Mart. The study will identify positions in which women do the same jobs as men but get less than what their male counterparts receive. The study will consider the full range of payments and benefits, including basic pay, non-salary payments, bonuses, and allowances. The legal position is that with Equal Pay Act and Title VII an employer cannot deny women equal pay for equal work, deny women transfers, promotions, or wage increases, manipulate job evaluations to relegate women's pay or intentionally segregate men and women into jobs according to their gender.
The results of power analysis are that Wal-Mart has 1.4 million employees in the United States according to 2016 figures. The confidence level used by us is 95%, the confidence interval is 10, and the sample size required is 96. Power analysis is the method for finding statistical power or the probability of finding an effect, assuming that the effect is actually there. The power analysis is the probability of rejecting a null hypothesis when it is false. When the figure was run on PASS the power was 0.78. This means that the study has an 78% chance of the test having significant results.
4. Research Questions and the Null and Alternative hypotheses:
(1) Are women paid the same basic pay as their male counterparts for the same job at Wal-Mart?
H0: Women are paid the same basic pay as their male counterparts for the same job at Wal-Mart
H1: Women are not paid the same basic pay as their male counterparts for the same job at Wal-Mart.,
(2) Are women paid the same non-salary payments, bonuses, and allowances as their male counterparts for the same jobs at Wal-Mart?
H0: Women are paid the same non-salary payments, bonuses, and allowances as their male counterparts for the same jobs at Wal-Mart:
H1: Women not paid the same non-salary payments, bonuses, and allowances as their male counterparts for the same jobs at Wal-Mart.
(3) Are women given the same benefits as their male counterparts for the same jobs at Wal-Mart.
H0: Women are given the same benefits as their male counterparts for the same jobs at Wal-Mart;

H0 is the null hypothesis which in a statistical test means there is no significant difference between specified populations, any observed differences being due to errors. H1 is the alternative hypothesis which is the maintained hypothesis. This hypothesis says that the sample observations are influenced by a non-random cause. For instance, observations are influenced by the pay policy of Wal-Mart that gives lower basic pay to women when compared with men for the same job, or similar job done by men (5). The research questions and the hypotheses are aligned with the purpose of the study. The purpose of the study is to find out if there is equal pay for women at Wal-Mart. The research questions and hypotheses examine whether women in same positions as men and doing the same jobs get paid less or get lower benefits. The research questions directly focus on whether women who do the same jobs as men at Wal-Mart get the full range of payments and benefits that men at Wal-Mart get. It is true that under the law an employer cannot deny women equal pay for equal work. The research questions and hypotheses are fully aligned with the purpose of the study.
