If we review the various theories of leadership and different kinds of leaders we get three dominant styles of leadership. These are authoritarian or autocratic leadership styles, the participative or democratic leadership style and the delegative or free reign leadership style. If I were a manager, I will not be using a fixed style for all situations. The normal situation in my work is that I have part of the information and the employees have the other part of the information. I involve one or more of the key employees in decision making. Even though I take suggestions from the employee, I make the final decisions. Also, when the situation is such that most of the information is with the employees and I want them to analyze the information, then I allow the employees to make decisions. In such situations I give the employees free reign and I trust their decision. Finally, when the situation is such that I have most of the information and there is a tight deadline, I make the decisions and use the ...
