For Instructional Purpose

Identify to what degree you met each of the 7 learning outcomes and describe any challenges you may have faced.

1. Apply sound principles in the practice of innovative leadership in complex environments to achieve positive transformation of individuals and organizations.

On a 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest) degree, I can identify to have met 96 degree of applying the learned objectives in this section. I have learned to diligently observe my work environment, interpret and reflect on literatures, use appropriate research, and incorporate my professor and classmates' shared valuable experiences to transforming myself to an innovative leader in my workplace. I work in a complex organization with a mission of satisfying its internal and external consumers' wireless needs by means of using its well-trained diversified workforce in achieving its goal. The organization have many locations, different functional areas with their unique scope of activities and standard guidelines (e.g. Code of conducts, values, and training materials, etc.) that all employees (top management, low management, managers, leaders and subordinates) must comply to work in synergy in achieving the organization's goal.

I work as a Human Resource Assistant with my current employer. My key responsibilities includes: (1) Employee Training and Development, (2) Company Employee Communication, and (3) Maintaining Employee Files and the HR filing system. Therefore, my key responsibilities are vital foundation for employees to understand, retain and use their training knowledge to positively transform the organization in achieving its goal while progressing themselves to leadership roles within the organization. For example, I have learned to apply sound principles of innovative leadership in identifying my weakness in employing higher degree of dissonant leadership style in trying to achieve positive transformation of diversified employees in my workplace.

Although dissonant leadership conforms to the objectives of what needs to be done, it does not apply sound principles in the practice of innovative leadership in a complex work environment and does not achieve expected positive transforming of individuals and organizations because (1) it connotes authoritative commands which does not make a leader approachable, and (2) creates distance between leaders and employees, and (3) creates low work productive morale in the workplace (Media & Kokemuller, 2015, p. 1).

Within my scope of learning in this class, applying sound principles in the practice of innovative leadership in complex environments to achieve positive transformation of individuals and organizations has been achieved in the framework of using practical literatures and case studies from leading experts as guides. For example, instead of using dissonant leadership style, I applied sound principles of resonant leadership in my leadership role at my job.

Resonant leadership involves using sound principles of emotional intelligence whereby a leader can have intimate work relationship connection with subordinate employees. Using emotional intelligence entails showing empathy for employees who are facing struggles between work and their personal lives (e.g. using effective communication to listen attentively to their issues, suggesting workable resolutions and educating them about resources that would help, and showing that you truly care), identifying employees' weak areas and coaching them with aligned measures, giving constructive feedbacks, and developing employees to be leaders within the workplace (Media & Kokemuller, 2015, p. 1).

Applying resonant leadership has built trusting relationship between me and my subordinate employees, it has created excellent harmony whereby employees approach me to share their diversified ideas that has helped in creating better ways of improving customer service to the organization's customers, employees are happy within the workplace, work morale has greatly improved, some employees have been promoted to leadership roles and the organization has experienced increased customer satisfaction feedbacks, increased sales of their products and services and increased revenue.

2. Apply appropriate research and analysis techniques to investigate complex situations in order to develop formal research-based solutions rooted in leadership concepts and practice.

On a 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest) degree, I can identify to have met 98 degree of understanding the learned objectives in this section. I comprehend the significance of applying aligned research and analytical methods in ...
