Delegation is a very important tool for leaders to use in business situations. When a leader delegates, they take their tasks and assign subordinates to these tasks - divvying out the individual tasks of the team and allowing others to learn new skills. Delegation can help business leaders complete more tasks, give subordinates more responsibility, help others feel more vested in the company, and reach the company goals. In my opinion, delegation is important because it not only helps you get your work done more efficiently and more effectively, it also helps to increase employee morale and creates a bond with the employees that work for you. If a leader fails to delegate responsibilities among other employees, the following may occur: projects may be delayed or not completed at all, customers may not be helped as quickly as needed, resulting in loss of customers and revenue, challenges are not taken care of, employees may be unsatisfied in their work and feel under-appreciated and not utilized to their full potential, and in the end, profits may go down (Javitch, 2005). Proper use of delegation allows a business leader if they are too busy to complete all of their tasks. It is a win-win solution.
