Organizational Change & Paradigm Shifts
Not what you're looking for?
We have all heard the phrase "change is not easy, but it is necessary." The process which we use to think, approach and embrace change is equally as important as how we implement change. Robertson (2010) defines perspective as "the world looks as it looks from where you are sitting at the time." The concept of organization design and change strategy starts with the organization's representatives ability to make a shift in perspective. The ability to change perspectives opens new avenues of innovation and purpose. In the video Robertson outlines the differences between routine and rituals. Routines are a series of steps repeated (Robertson, 2010), whether effective or not. Whereas, rituals change emotional states (Robertson, 2010) and create, strengthen, solve or enhance. Likewise, gaining different perspectives allow organizations to reevaluate organizational norms on a more consistent basis. Brown (2011) stated only the more healthy organizations allow their members to challenge their norms. Shifts in paradigms only happen when a different perspective of the current scientific process is introduced.
