The company selected is Panasonic Corporation. It is a Japanned multinational consumer electronics company that has its head office in Kadoma, Osaka, Japan. Its main products are electronics. It has become the largest Japanese electronics producer.
Now a global company must have worldwide plans for products, marketing strategy, manufacturing approach, logistics, and research and development. (1) Panasonic Corporation appears to have global plan for products, marketing, manufacturing, logistics and development. One of the most formidable strengths of Panasonic Corporation is its worldwide distribution network. This has been leveraged to maintain its sales, introduce new products, and increase its market share. Further, a global company should have a business delivery system that is highly sensitive to local customer needs and able to support local customers with excellence. In case of Panasonic Corporation not only does it have a strong global distribution network, it also exercises control over that network.
Further, a global company balances aspects of itself that must be viewed and planned as a global system that are sensitive to local requirements. Panasonic Corporation has followed a global strategy in a sense that it has developed products keeping in mind the needs and requirements of the global market and not the needs of local markets. Panasonic Corporation normally does not modify its products according to the needs of local customers (3).
The global strategy seems appropriate for Panasonic Corporation because its products belong to an industry where low costs are valued and there are low pressures to modify electronic products for local markets.
