The department endeavors to ensure that the federal government grants are not misused or misspent. Department of Commerce endeavors to implement the Public Law 106-107. This relates to the Financial Assistance Management Improvement Act of 1999. The Department of Commerce administers several grant programs worth billions of dollars. It streamlines the federal government grant efforts to re engineer. For instance, it participates in the National Science & Technology Council Research. It improves the co ordination of the government with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It helps the internal efforts of the federal government to streamline grants and rethink their implementation.
The Department of Commerce enhances the economic condition of the Federal government in several ways, if the national economic competitiveness increases there will be large collections of federal taxes, with the creation of United States Export Administration the Department of Commerce has improved the countries export growth and consequently the taxes collected, with the establishment of the office of Productivity, Technology and Innovation the international competitiveness of the country and the tax realization of the federal government improves, similarly the implementation of The United States Travel and Tourism Administration ensures the growth of tourism and income for the federal government and when the International Trade Administration carries out its functions the federal government is served.
