Dear Student,

I think that the topic of onboarding is relevant in any workplace and it is an important concern. Therefore as a subject matter, it is a good choice. However, it is not necessary to overhaul everything about an on-boarding process; it will be just as relevant and useful to add a good value element to it, which could make the on-boarding process more effective. I would suggest on a pre-boarding process, especially getting documentation and paperwork to get it out of the way. This would require IT and would probably need a task team. I suggest this as a presentation subject. I have created a Slide solution below as well as a presentation. I have also included a PDF version. You can, of course, add more media. As soon as a new hire is notified of acceptance into a job or a role, there is that sense of anticipation in the air. After all, a new journey is about to begin not just for the new employee's life but also for the colleagues and the organization the new hire is about to join. Pre-onboarding or preboarding (Arun 2021) is the first phase of any onboarding process. While there is a general idea, the onboarding begins when the employee starts day one at work, the preboarding element is essential. According to Arun (Arun 2021), "This is a very crucial time for your candidates because they are the most uncertain of what lies ahead. Even a small miscommunication or misunderstanding can make candidates doubt their decision to join your organization. On the other hand, when candidates are managed properly and kept updated on organizational developments, they'll start feeling more excited about their decision to join your organization." Therefore, any preboarding process must take in mind the idea that communication and management matters. What help can the organization give to the new hires? How can the organization present a good work environment of support and development before day 1? While the circumstances might be different as to the needs of every new hire, there is always a way of finding out and making things better to ease them into their new roles and welcome them to the fold.
