In a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment, successful leaders turn to the vision of the organization to keep alignment. The vision provides the overall direction not merely to the leader but to the entire organization. what is required in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment is unifying force, the vision provides such a unifying force. The written vision is communicated to the organization and instantly a degree of alignment is observed. The successful leader manages not merely to communicate the vision but also to ensure that the vision is understood by every person.
In addition, the alignment of the organization is secured through the mission and the shared values of the organization. The job of alignment becomes easier for the leader when the vision, mission, and the shared values are well known to each member of the organization.
