While the hiring manager at Korn/Ferry was aware of Mr. van Someran's conduct at A.T. Kearny, he was not made aware of the full extent of Mr. van Someran's personal charges on the company credit card. The estlimate of the charges provided by Mr. van Someran was far too low, underestimating the charges by nearly $18,000. The hiring manager contacted a current and former co-worker at Mr. van Someran's current employer, but failed to contact a manager or supervisor who might have a more detailed picture of Mr. van Someran's behavior and work ethic. He also failed to verify Mr. van Someran's admission of the personal charges made by Mr. van Someran, on the corporate credit card at A.T. Kearny, with his former supervisor.
