American Red Cross operating funds come from three main funding sources: contributions, revenues from products and
services, investment income and other sources. (includes corporate, foundation and individual giving, United Way and other
federated, legacies and bequests, grants and in-kind contributions) Participation in the United Way and Combined Federal Campaigns as well as Reimbursements and grants from local, state and federal government agencies for specific projects are major funding sources for Red Cross. Further, Red Cross receives large donations from philanthropic arms of large corporations, such as GE Foundation as well as donations from corporations like Walmart.

The Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund is the conduit through which the American people support victims of
thousands of disasters across the country each year. This resource assists the Red Cross in meeting the immediate needs-such as shelter, food and critical mental health counseling-of individuals and families affected by disasters such as hurricanes as well as house fires, floods, tornadoes and winter storms.
