- The main advantage in selling books is that through different mediums, the books can be downloaded immediately by customers. Amazon has really revolutionized this area with the Kindle. Later, other companies saw the success of downloadable books and followed suit. We then saw Barnes & Noble come out with the Nook, which is similar to Amazon's kindle in basic use. If an immediate download is not preferable and an actual, physical book is desired, a customer can order a book online and have it delivered within a few days time. Amazon then expanded their services to include various goods, and later opened the marketplace, where other sellers can sell their books and goods directly on the Amazon website.
