Communication is a huge factor in giving these executives a sense of ownership as it pertains to the organizations they are running. Sometimes I fear though that we have placed too much emphasis on extrinsic motivators (especially as it pertains to these executives). There are fewer and fewer executives who actually have intrinsic motivation behind their titles. For instance, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are in it for far more than their dividends check, would you agree?
