Since monetary rewards are not feasible for the supervisor to motivate the clerical assistant, he will have to use a combination of various types of non-monetary rewards to boost the morale of the employee and keep his motivation at a high level and in turn, improve his productivity at the highest level. Since monetary rewards acts as a positive reinforcement, the absence of such rewards have to be adequately met by chosing suitable non-monetary rewards.

Most of the extrinsic rewards are concerned with monetary incentives, such as salaries, bonuses,etc. and are thus not available to the supervisor. However, he can use a combination of intrinsic rewards to provide more job satisfaction to the clerical assistant and keep him motivated and happy.
