Many factors affect the overall satisfaction of employees. Organizations are constantly charged with the responsibility to continually improve their performance rating as well as employee satisfaction. As such, every year, Fortune magazine takes it upon itself to survey various aspects of companies all across the United States, in the determination and ranking on the top companies to work for (100 Best Companies, 2011). In identifying the best companies to work for, information is primarily gathered from the employees themselves. The Fortune magazine partners with the Great Place to Work Institute in carrying our extensive surveys composing of hundreds of employees within each company. From the surveyed companies and employees, two-thirds of the company's score is hedged upon the answers that employees give to questions relating to factors such as management credibility, job satisfaction as well as camaraderie at the workplace. The other third in determining the company's score is hedged on the responses companies give in detail in regards to questions concerning pay, programs, benefits, recognition programs, efforts, diversity, hiring practices, etc (Gallagher, 2011).

Among the top 10 best companies chosen for the year 2011 was Google, which made the list at number four. Headquartered in Mountain View, California, Google is a website search giant famous for numerous perks offered to its employees.
