Principles of eco-feminism

This is an activist movement that links the nature of domination and women exploitation. It offers numerous theories and practices to understand the interrelations between the domination of nature and women. The notion of this principle reflects the environmental issues influencing the women all over the world. According to the principle of eco-feminism, nature and women have a conceptual link in the Euro-western world. These principles claim that there are some dual symbols existing between the men and women that reflect their link with the environment.

Dualism such as men/women, reason/emotion, culture/nature and heaven/earth give priority to the first factor in comparison to the second one (Eaton & Lorentzen, 2003).

According to the principle of eco-feminism, women have more concern for environmental issues in comparison to their counterparts due to some reasons. Women possess some innate characteristics like caring, nonviolence, earthly sensitivity; community building that is not present among the men. Due to these traits, women are closer to environment as compared to men. This principle defines the relationship of environmental issues with feminism on the basis of gender, race, category and personal traits.
