Best Buy Article Critique

The article chosen for review was "Best Buy Acquires MindShift Technologies for $167 Million" by Nathan Eddy from the Channel Insider written Nov 7, 2011 found through Ebsco Host. Best Buy is a multination corporation doing business in China, United States and several other countries. According to their website, Best Buy "is the global leader in consumer electronics, with more than 1,400 large and small-format locations, more than 160,000 employees, $50B in annual revenue and the 11th largest retail website in the United States" (About, 2012).
The main focus of this article discusses how Best Buy acquired Mindshift Technologies in 2011. This acquisition cost the organization $167 million dollars. Mindshift prior to the acquisition was a technology company that provided several services including "cloud services, data center services, and professional services to more than 5,400 clients and 25,000 managed desktops in markets throughout the United States" (Eddy, 2011). The article discussed the rationale behind Best Buy's purchase and the positive impact this would have on this retail company by allowing Best Buy to diversify their current customer offering to include more service oriented options.
