The human body is composed of a number of organ systems that work together to perform all the necessary functions of the body. Each organ system is comprised of a number of component organs that work together to accomplish certain tasks. The following are some of the human organ systems.
Imagine that you have been asked to provide an explanation about the structure and function of this system to the general public, perhaps a group of senior citizens who want to learn more about normal functions of the human body as well as health concerns.
You will be providing the seniors with an informative handout. In this handout you will cover the following topics:
Describe the general function of the system and explain how the organ system contributes to physiological homeostasis of the organism.© BrainMass Inc. brainmass.com October 9, 2019, 9:23 pm ad1c9bdddf
The circulatory system is composed of the heart, blood vessels (capillaries, veins, and arteries), and blood. The main function of the circulatory system is to transport nutrients, hormones, waste and gases to and from the the cells of the body.
Heart - The organ of the circulatory system, the human heart has four compartments, two atria and two ventricles. The heart is a muscular organ which contracts rhythmically to transfer blood throughout the body.
Arteries - Blood vessels which transfer blood away from the body.
Capillaries - Small blood vessels which make contact with the body's cells and are the site of nutrient, gas, hormone, and waste transfer.
Veins - Blood vessels which transfer blood toward the body.
Blood - Is ...
In this solution I provide an explanation about the structure and function of each component of the circulatory system. I also describe how the organ system contributes to physiological homeostasis of the organism.
