It may also be denoted as, as in the case of this particular article, the goal of the research/study. In this article, the purpose of the study appears as the first sentence of the abstract: "The goal of the study was to assess asthma control using asthma control test (ACT) and to explore the factors that effects asthma control among participants with bronchial asthma in the outpatient clinic setting" (p. 100).
