Recognizing the struggle and resistance is indeed important in understanding children and childhood. Romanticizing childhood might be from a lack of knowledge about human development or just plain wishful thinking. Television and movies are especially prone to having children act in a way that is NOT based in reality. This is perhaps more about profit as many people use the movies as a temporary escape from the day-today struggles, which include children.
