There have been links found between the use of social media and depression, but these are inconsistent. Some of the issues with the inconsistency is the scale used to determine the link and the scale used to determine depression. Facebook is the most popular social networking site and is most often the social media site used for research (Tandoc, 2015). While there are studies that show a linkage between social media and depression, others studies show only limited or negative links between the two. Envy, amount of time spent on social media sites, and predisposition to depression are some of the other research findings.
