A.
Describe your church and community setting.
A short history of the church. When did it begin? Are these the "golden days" or was that another time? Take advantage of the North American Mission Board's resource to "exegete" your community.
From your churches annual profile or from conversations with staff find out how many people are in the church and how many people "joined" or were baptized last year? If your church does not keep this information, why or why not? Should they?

1) How do guests feel and what do they experience when they come to your church meeting? (You may even want to use a "secret shopper" to visit and then get their reaction after the service.)
2) Does your church have ongoing evangelism training programs?
3) Does your church use small groups? Kids programs? Youth? Camps? Seniors? Anything that creates space where people hear the Gospel and study the Word?
4) What events are used at your church to reach people with the Gospel?
5) Is there a public invitation given during the worship services? What does the pastor want people to do after the message?

Please provide 1) a summary of four to five activities or ministries ("Best Practices") that are working well that you would recommend others, and 2) a short summary of what is not working? Where are gaps in evangelism where you can improve?

B.
Students will summarize their experiences, including brief descriptions of the following:

The personal challenge you faced when joining this class. For instance, this is the first time you will be sharing the gospel, or you are learning a new way to do evangelism.
How you prepared to share your faith. This might include studying a gospel presentation, prayer for yourself and the person you witness to, spending time building a deeper relationship with someone or out in the area where you can casually meet unbelievers.
How you connected with the persons you shared with.
A brief summary of the actual gospel presentations you shared and their response.
Any next steps or follow up that you are doing.
Reflections and lessons learned.

A. Church-based Evangelism

Our church is a small-community church servicing a borough with a population of 8,000. There are 5 Christian churches that service the local community of different denominations. However, even if there is a denominational gap, the church leaders have agreed to work together in our evangelical activities. The church has a long legacy and had been in place since the late 70's. It was established by a Baptist Pastor with the support of his family and his son who took up the task of evangelism with him. Through the years, the small church grew and established an attached college to train pastors, missionaries and to provide education and training for those who wish to take up roles in ministry. On Sundays, there is an early service worship at 8 in the morning, followed by adult and youth bible classes, followed by the morning service at half 10 in the morning (second service) and an evening service at half 5 in the afternoon. On Thursdays, members of the church attend the prayer meeting service at 7 pm. Services offered on Sunday and Thursday are all open to the public. Anyone can seek pastoral help for their faith. The church has a policy of an open prayer request (Solid Rock Baptist Church, 2021). Churchgoers and people may fill in a form or go to the church staff and leaders to make prayer requests. On the church's website and social media accounts, prayer requests may also be made. The question asked for prayer requests is "How can we pray for you?" which allows for the prayer requested and then made to be deeply personal to the requesting person and allows the church and its members to provide the spiritual support to the prayer requester. The church, to respond to the digital world also livestreams it's services and varied activities, a move which also accommodates the need for space because of the recent covid-19 lockdowns.
The church provides the ...
