Personality Trait Dimensions

In the study of psychology, one of the basic fundamentals we learn are the personality traits structure, factors known as the 'Big 5' because they make up the main elements of personality and each of them is used to describe human personality and establish the relationship between personality and behavior. Introduced as a framework in 1992 by Costa and McCrae, what these fundamentals did is create a framework in which to describe and compare personality. These dimensions are as follows:

1. Openness (inventive/curious vs. consistent/cautious) - This factor involves the manner in which human beings use their imagination, sensitivity, attentive ears to inner feelings, preferences and knowledge curiosity.
