There are six modern psychological perspectives in psychology; behavioral, psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive, socio-cultural, and biological. Each perspective has its own unique way of explaining the human behavior. In order to fully understand psychology and the complex processes of each theory, they all should be examined. However, the purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast two personality theories which are psychodynamic and behavioral.
Zimbardo (2000) defines the behavioral view as the psychological perspective that emphasizes the power of the environment to influence behavior. This view is often referred to as behaviorism and was developed by psychologists who disagreed with the cognitive view.
