Erikson and race theory

Erikson is one exception: he believed that minorities were at risk of forming a negative identity because of their devalued status in society. Do you agree with this assumption? Why or why not? I agree with this assumption because if a child or teen is treated with hate or discrimination from peers or society overall, this treatment often carries over to the teen's self beliefs; as a result, it often impedes his or her normal development of personality, socialization, etc.
