Research is presented that point to an association between the deployment psychological outcomes for the children of military families. For example, a study was conducted that show the absence of military fathers from the home contributed to aggression and irritability in young boys (age 14). In another study, paternal absence lasting for at least one month was associated with greater depression and anxiety among children (Levai et al., 1995 as cited in Chandra. Burns, Tanielian, Jaycox, & Scott, 2008). Yeatman (1996 as cited in Chandra et al, 2008) investigated the impact of father's absence during deployment and found that 34% of parents reported disciplinary problems with their children. In addition, further research is presented that children of deployed parents have higher levels of internalizing behaviors such as sadness, fearfulness or over controlled behavior. As Chandara et al.
