Police are provided the ability to query, view, and analyze crimes outside of their own jurisdiction, which can assist in apprehending serial offenders.

Crime mapping seeks to address cluster crimes such as robberies, rapes, burglaries, and other offenses that represent high incidences of criminal behavior. Detectives, beat officers, and administrative personnel are able to generate informative maps and reports based upon cluster analyses, pattern analyses, linkage analyses, and forecasting to detect offender's movement patterns. Crimes such as auto theft, which can be tracked using these maps, can be targeted better because of the computer analysis of high prone areas.
