Italian police based their Community Policing model upon the French model. Therefore, many of the same tenets that are evident in the French model are present in the Italian model, therefore; these are the two countries that will be used for this summary. The intent of their model during the implementation phase was to transition from traditional response based policing that involved only responding to crimes to a more proactive model that attempted to prevent crimes before they occurred and engagement with the community. The country implemented their changes by not focusing on flooding areas with more police but rather engaging the community with police that had vested interests in the community. Increasing the numbers of police officers doesn't equate to increased public safety, therefore, the country sought to work in close proximity and unity with the people from the community.
