To understand the ethical dilemma that will be discussed, it is important to understand the environment in which it happened. A couple of years ago two departments, research and clinical programs, were combined into the Research and Clinical Programs Department. This was done to facilitate exchange of information between two departments that work within the boundaries of each other's targeted audience and goals. The staff was not affected by the process since they all kept their position and roles with the exception of the top director of the Clinical Department that became a vice-president instead of the president of the combined department.
The organization is a nationally and internationally recognized non-profit with high standards of performance that include core values and universal business practices. As a performance driven organization, employee's pay and position are subject to yearly performance evaluation.
