Transmission of flu is usually through air droplets and hand to hand contact of infectious
viral agents. The treatment of flu virus for most flu is rest, treatment of a fever and plenty of
fluids to drink. For the more vulnerable population such as children, elderly and
immunosuppressed, the flu can be a deadly ordeal. They need to be protected first by
immunization. If the contract the flu, they can first take oseltamivir or Tamiflu which is an
antiviral medication if they have had symptoms for less than two days. It can be also given for
people who have had an exposure.

The symptoms of flu are normally aches and fever. Some people get respiratory
symptoms while others may have gastrointestinal responses. Respiratory symptoms can be life-
threatening for those who are already pre-disposed to cardiac, respiratory or other chronic
diseases. Usually the flu last seven to ten days and a person are usually confined to their bed.
Sometimes people misinterpret their symptoms from that of a cold but the flu is more intense and
severe and takes several weeks to recover (colds & flu).

Mitigation of the disease in the organization will be to use surveillance to keep all
