It actually is possible to carry the dark out of a cave in your cap. It merely requires putting a cover over the cap, while it is upside down, filled with the darkness that is inside the cave. However, when you remove the cover to view the captured darkness, it escapes. It is too quick for you to see it in the light outside of its cave. BUT - any time you wish to have darkness again, you only have to retreat from the light. Waiting for nightfall is one such strategy, or going indoors ...
