As a teacher, you have the opportunity to share the knowledge you have gained in this course with your colleagues in order to support a collaborative approach to shared health, nutrition, and safety goals. For your Final Project, you will create a presentation for other educators in your center that is focused on the development of a program valuing health, nutrition, and safety.

For this presentation, imagine that you are part of a team of teachers at an early childcare setting that is working toward accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). As part of this lengthy process, you have been tasked with the creation of a professional development training for teachers that is focused on enhancing effective health, nutrition, and safety practices at your center. Use the knowledge that you have gained this course as well as practical application and research to support your presentation.

You can be creative for this project, but you must include the following:
1. Introduction that states the purpose of the presentation
2. Summary of what will be covered in the presentation
3. Health (five to six slides/pages)
a. Explanation of what this component includes in the early childhood classroom
b. Strategies to support health and wellness in the classroom
c. Resource sharing, including at least two resources that teachers can utilize in their planning and implementation. These can be text or web based resources.
d. Family activity or newsletter article that you can send home to support family engagement in fostering children's overall health and wellness
e. Obstacle that teachers may encounter with a plan for how to deal with the challenge
4. Nutrition (five to six slides/pages)
a. Explanation of what this component includes in the early childhood classroom
b. Strategies to support nutritional choices and possible food allergies in children
c. Resource sharing, including at least two resources that teachers can utilize in their planning and implementation. These can be text or web based resources.
d. Family activity or newsletter article that you can send home to support family engagement in fostering children's nutrition
e. Obstacle that teachers may encounter with a plan for how to deal with the challenge
5. Safety (five to six slides/pages)
a. Explanation of what this component includes in the early childhood classroom
b. Strategies to safety in the early childhood classroom
c. Resource sharing, including at least two resources that teachers can utilize in their planning and implementation. These can be text or web based resources.
d. Family activity or newsletter article that you can send home to support family engagement in supporting children's safety
e. Obstacle that teachers may encounter with a plan for how to deal with the challenge
6. Closing
You have two options for your Final Project. You many either submit an 18- to 22-slide PowerPoint presentation (not including a title and reference slide) or you may choose to create a Prezi. You are able to use the free version of Prezi to create your presentation. Be creative in your delivery. Include visuals, audio, and video if you choose, but be thorough in your content. Your presentation must utilize at least eight resources. Be sure to address the required topics with critical thought, elaboration, and college-level writing. The PowerPoint or Prezi presentation must be formatted according to APA style, and it must include a the title slide, reference slide, and citations where appropriate.
