Technology topic of my choice:
Technology increases income inequality.
The explanation is that with the use of technology, more productive workers become even more productive because of new technology. The result is that the income gap between the workers increases with the use of new technology.
Research problem
Even though new technology has increased productivity and improved standards of living, changes in technology increase income inequality.
The explanation for the research problem is that with global improvements in technology, there is a fall in demand for low-skilled and uneducated workers. The rationale is that their work can be automated, On the other hand, there is a higher demand for education workers who work in new technology-based jobs.
Possible variables:
The independent variable is technological change
The dependent variable is income inequality
One explanation for the research problem is that since the revolution of information technology, there is job polarization. This means that more demand for high and low skilled employees on the other hand more medium-skilled jobs are being replaced or automated by computers. This has caused a wage gap leading to income inequality (a).
