Social media evolved with the increasing use of internet and social networking sites like FaceBook and twitter in the last 3-4 years. Even though true social networking sites like FaceBook, MySpace and twitter, etc. evolved recently, initial form of social networking evolved in 1990's with the establishment of sites like tripod, geocities, etc. that allowed people to interact with each other via chat rooms and allowed people to set up personal web pages for sharing information. The modern form of social networking evolved in early 2000 with the establishment of sites like Friendster.
