1) Age: Not all products are appropriate for all age groups, therefore it is common to segment your population based on age to see who would be interested. Bikes come to mind - a younger person might want a high performance bike, while an elderly person might want a bike for more leisure purposes. Young families might want bikes with a kid's seat attached....

2) Lifestyle factors: Is a person married or single? Do they have kids or are childless? For example, cars would be a great example. A person who is probably interested in a minivan is in a different lifestyle category then a person who wants a luxury full-sized sedan.
