1. For this assignment you are to briefly (3 to 4 paragraphs) list what constitutes "quality" in assessing and reducing risk.

Quality is about safety; therefore risk management and risk reduction strategies would be the strategies linked to providing a safe work environment for employers, employees, and customers. It does this by formulating risk reduction strategies to reduce and control hazards and risks; prevent accidents and injuries and, thus, maintain safe workplace conditions.
Let's look at several examples of risk reduction strategies in specific work environments to understand the link between risk, risk strategies and providing a safe work environment. For example, Heiniger's have produced a solution to workplace hazards that have been facing shearers and shed hands in one of Australia's oldest industries. The EVO shearing plant has many safety features including:
• An improved "deadman's" safety switch which means the plant stops if accidentally dropped or knocked from the shearer's hand,
• a lightweight structure of 14 kg, making it simple to erect and transport and therefore reducing the risk of back and shoulder injuries;
• RCD protection and the down tube is isolated to minimize the risk of electric shock,
• the handpiece is totally sealed and guarded to prevent access to moving parts and possible shear points, and is designed to minimize the risk of exposure to unsafe noise with an exposure standard of between 70 - 75 dB(A).
• The EVO shearing plant is now being used extensively by shearers and farmers throughout Australia, interest has also been shown in New Zealand, the UK and South Africa. Other potential overseas markets are also being explored, as the plant is also suitable for goat and alpaca ...
