The firm will develop a sophisticated online web portal infrastructure which will support quality improvement programs in five plants in different locations of the company. The manufacturing operations will have to report progress, submit data, share ideas, measure and monitor quality improvement initiatives.

In order to mitigate the risks related to delays, the project sponsor has to keep track of the progress of the work with the vendor doing the development work on a very regular basis. He will need to check with the progress of the project as per the agreed delivery milestones and quickly resolve issues pertaining to delays with the vendor quickly.

For the risks related to bugs or functionality related issues, the testing phase of the web infrastructure development process is very critical. The firm should work closely with the Quality Assurance team of the vendor to check all the functionality of the system in an extensive manner. The end users from the company should test the system themselves to point out all bugs and functionality related errors.

Similarly, the contract with the vendor should be such that he will ensure comprehensive post implementation support in the form of training and resolution of bugs and errors in the system.
